BJP Leaders Plan Havans as Modi Achieves Historic Longest-Serving PM Milestone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to achieve a historic political milestone on June 10, 2026, by becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister, surpassing the record previously held by the nation's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Modi will complete 4,399 days in office, exceeding Nehru's 4,398 days as elected Prime Minister from 1952 onwards. To commemorate this significant achievement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has organized a series of celebratory events, including traditional 'havans' and prayer ceremonies across the country, particularly in Delhi.

BJP leaders, including national president Nitin Nabin, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and her cabinet colleagues, along with party MPs and MLAs, are scheduled to perform these rituals at various temples and their residences on Wednesday. National President Nitin Nabin, accompanied by Delhi BJP president and Union minister Harsh Malhotra, MP Bansuri Swaraj, and state general secretary Pawan Rana, will offer prayers at the revered Jhandewalan temple. Similarly, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, alongside North West Delhi MP Yogender Chandolia, will participate in prayers at the Ram Mandir in Kishanganj Gaushala. Several other senior party figures, including Union Minister J.P. Nadda, Sunil Bansal, Arun Singh, and Delhi government ministers, are also slated to perform rituals, underscoring the widespread participation from the party's hierarchy.

This momentous occasion also coincides with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government marking 12 years since its formation on May 26, 2014. To celebrate this anniversary and Prime Minister Modi's milestone, a meeting of the NDA constituents is scheduled in the national capital on Wednesday. During this meeting, an 'abhinandan prastav' (resolution of congratulations) will be passed, acknowledging Prime Minister Modi's record tenure and the government's accomplishments over the past decade. This event is expected to see the presence of 72-75 leaders from across the NDA alliance, reinforcing the coalition's unity and vision.

The BJP has already initiated a month-long nationwide campaign, launched on Tuesday, to highlight 12 key achievements of the Modi-led NDA government across various sectors. This campaign, titled '12 Saal Vishwas Ke, Vikas Ke, Jan Kalyan Ke' (12 Years of Trust, Development, and Public Welfare), aims to showcase major reforms, welfare programs, infrastructure expansion, digital transformation, and India's enhanced global standing. Senior BJP leaders and Union ministers, including Amit Shah, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Piyush Goyal, and Nitin Nabin, have engaged in media interactions to articulate the government's successes, emphasizing a narrative of national transformation, welfare-driven governance, and cultural resurgence.

Prime Minister Modi's tenure has been described by party leaders as a period that has ushered in renewed confidence in India's civilizational identity and cultural heritage. His leadership has been credited with empowering citizens through transparency, technology, and direct benefit transfers, ensuring that welfare schemes reach intended beneficiaries efficiently. The significance of Modi's achievement extends beyond merely days in office; he is also noted as the first Prime Minister born after Independence, the longest-serving non-Congress PM, and the only non-Congress leader to secure three consecutive electoral victories with a majority in the Lok Sabha. World leaders, including the President of Sri Lanka and the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, have also extended congratulations, recognizing his leadership and India's progress under his stewardship.
