Gained Nothing From BJP: Amarinder Singh Laments Lack Of Consultation On Punjab

In a candid critique that has sent ripples across Punjab's political landscape, former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh stated that he has gained nothing by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and claimed that the party central leadership has consistently failed to consult him on critical matters concerning the state.

Captain Amarinder Singh, who served as the Chief Minister of Punjab twice and has been a veteran figure in regional politics for decades, joined the BJP in September 2022 after severing ties with the Indian National Congress. His entry into the saffron party, along with the merger of his newly formed Punjab Lok Congress (PLC), was widely anticipated to provide the BJP with a substantial boost, especially in rural and agrarian heartlands where the party has historically struggled for significant electoral ground.

However, expressing his disappointment during recent interactions, the veteran leader highlighted an apparent disconnect between himself and the BJP high command. Following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP failed to secure any seats in Punjab despite increasing its vote share, debates surrounding leadership and regional messaging gained momentum.
