Nadda Touts Decade of Development, Criticizes Opposition in Himachal Rallies

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda recently embarked on a series of influential rallies across Himachal Pradesh, strongly emphasizing the transformative development agenda spearheaded by the Narendra Modi-led central government over the past decade. Addressing gatherings on June 11, 2026, at key locations such as Fatehpur and the historic Chaugan Ground in Chamba, within the Kangra parliamentary seat, and subsequently in Kunihar under the Arki assembly segment of the Shimla parliamentary seat, Nadda meticulously outlined the advancements achieved under what he termed a 'strong government'.

During his addresses, Nadda underscored that a robust government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the past ten years, has successfully set new benchmarks for development across the nation. He highlighted the extensive network of roads laid in Himachal Pradesh, crediting the Modi government for its crucial support in enhancing connectivity within the hilly state. Beyond infrastructure, Nadda drew attention to several flagship welfare schemes that have directly benefited millions, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Ayushman Bharat, and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

Nadda proudly asserted that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India has transitioned from being a nation that historically sought aid to one that now actively provides assistance to others. He cited data from NITI Aayog, indicating that over 250 million people have risen above the poverty line in recent years, reflecting a profound positive shift in India's image and socio-economic landscape. The BJP President also remarked that Prime Minister Modi has fundamentally transformed the political culture of the country, moving it towards a paradigm centered unequivocally on development. He emphasized that the Modi government has consistently worked towards the upliftment and development of women, the poor, the oppressed, and backward classes, ensuring inclusive growth.

Critiquing the opposition, Nadda accused the Congress party of promoting nepotism and asserted that opposition parties, specifically the INDI alliance, were formed solely for their own selfish interests, lacking any coherent agenda or vision for the nation. He characterized the opposition as being 'leaderless and devoid of policies', in stark contrast to the BJP's clear, ideological, and result-oriented politics. Nadda also made specific allegations regarding the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, claiming it has been inefficient, misused central funds, and failed to adequately utilize the assistance provided by the Centre for the state's development. He cited instances where the Centre provided thousands of crores for disaster relief, Smart Cities, medical colleges, AIIMS Bilaspur, a bulk drug park, and four-lane highways, yet the state government allegedly struggled with fund utilization.

Emphasizing the concept of a 'double-engine government' (referring to BJP governments at both the Centre and the state), Nadda proclaimed it as the only viable path for Himachal Pradesh's sustained growth and development. He contrasted the BJP's era of schemes and policies with what he termed the Congress's era of scandals, asserting the BJP's governance stands as a testament to progress. Nadda also touched upon the BJP's broader national vision, reiterating the party's commitment to transforming India into a developed and self-reliant nation by 2047, aligning with 'Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal'.
