BJP Stalwarts Pay Homage To Arun Jaitley On Death Anniversary

Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, paid rich tributes to former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on his death anniversary. Leaders across the political spectrum remembered Jaitley for his profound legal acumen, economic vision, articulate parliamentary speeches, and enduring contribution to the governance and infrastructure of modern India.

Paying homage to the late leader, Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted Jaitley's monumental role in shaping political discourse and economic policy in the country. Shah stated that Jaitley's political journey, deep legal intelligence, and unwavering commitment to public service continue to serve as a beacon for emerging leaders. Shah emphasized how Jaitley was a crucial pillar within the party, acting as a master strategist who effectively communicated complex policy reforms to the public and steered critical legislative victories in Parliament.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also recalled Jaitley's invaluable contributions to the nation and the party organization. Arun Jaitley, who passed away in August 2019, served as India's Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs during the first term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration from 2014 to 2019. He was widely recognized as the chief architect of India's most transformative indirect tax reform, the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Under his leadership, the Union government successfully coordinated with various states to roll out GST, effectively unifying the national market into a streamlined tax system. Jaitley was also instrumental in enacting the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), which modernized the country's banking resolution procedures and strengthened financial accountability.

Beyond economics, Jaitley held several key portfolios during his distinguished political career, including Defence, Commerce and Industry, Law and Justice, and Information and Broadcasting. Before holding cabinet positions, Jaitley was a formidable voice in Parliament, serving as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha from 2009 to 2014. His experience as a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India gave him a distinct legal edge, making his parliamentary debates sharp, persuasive, and widely respected across party affiliations.
