Left Leader Accuses Ruling Coalition Of Eroding Democratic Pillars

In a sharp political offensive, Communist Party of India (CPI) National Secretary K. Ramakrishna has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of actively undermining the democratic foundations of the country. Addressing a gathering and speaking to media representatives in the temple town of Bhadrachalam, the senior left-wing leader raised serious concerns over the functioning of the central government, alleging that constitutional values and democratic institutions are being systematically weakened under the current regime.

Ramakrishna asserted that the ruling BJP is utilizing central agencies to target opposition parties and silence dissenting voices. He claimed that the independence of key institutions, including the judiciary, election commission, and investigative bodies, has been compromised to serve the political interests of the ruling dispensation. According to the CPI leader, this trend poses a grave danger to the federal structure of India, as state governments led by opposition parties are being continuously harassed and starved of their rightful financial resources.

During his address in Bhadrachalam, Ramakrishna highlighted several key issues that he believes reflect the authoritarian tendencies of the current administration. He pointed out that the central government has been bypassing parliamentary consensus on crucial legislations, pushing through bills without adequate debate or scrutiny. This practice, he argued, dilutes the role of the parliament as a deliberative body representing the diverse populace of India.

Furthermore, the CPI leader spoke extensively on the economic situation of the country, linking political centralization with economic distress. He alleged that the policies of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government have disproportionately benefited large corporate houses while neglecting the welfare of common citizens, farmers, and the working class. Ramakrishna highlighted the rising unemployment rates, inflation, and agrarian distress as direct consequences of these policies, calling for an immediate course correction to protect public interest.

Addressing the local context of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the CPI leader accused the central government of failing to fulfill the commitments made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. He stated that vital projects, educational institutions, and financial packages promised during the bifurcation of the state remain unfulfilled or delayed, which he cited as another example of the centre's disregard for state federalism.

In his concluding remarks, Ramakrishna urged all secular, democratic, and left forces to unite against what he described as a threat to the nation's pluralistic identity. He called for nationwide mobilization to create awareness among citizens about the importance of protecting the Indian Constitution and its democratic principles. The CPI, he maintained, would continue to remain at the forefront of struggles defending the rights of the marginalized and preserving the democratic character of the Indian republic.
