Nadda Touts Decade of Development, Slams Opposition in Himachal Rallies

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda recently embarked on a series of influential rallies across Himachal Pradesh, strongly emphasizing the transformative development agenda spearheaded by the Narendra Modi-led central government over the past decade. Addressing gatherings on June 11 and 12, 2026, at key locations such as Fatehpur and the historic Chaugan Ground in Chamba, within the Kangra parliamentary seat, and subsequently in Kunihar under the Arki assembly segment of the Shimla parliamentary seat, Nadda meticulously outlined the advancements achieved under what he termed a 'strong government'.

During his addresses, Nadda underscored that a robust government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the past ten years, has successfully set new benchmarks for development across the nation. He highlighted the extensive network of roads laid in Himachal Pradesh, crediting the Modi government for its crucial support in enhancing connectivity within the hilly state. Beyond infrastructure, Nadda drew attention to several flagship welfare schemes that have directly benefited millions, including the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Ayushman Bharat, and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

Nadda proudly asserted that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India has transitioned from being a nation that historically sought aid to one that now actively provides assistance. He also referred to data from NITI Aayog, indicating that over 250 million people have risen above the poverty line in recent years, reflecting a positive shift in India's global image.

In a sharp critique of the opposition, particularly the Congress party, Nadda accused them of promoting nepotism and forming the INDI alliance solely for their own selfish interests. He characterized the opposition as being 'leaderless and devoid of policies', in stark contrast to the BJP's clear, ideological, and result-oriented politics focused on the development of Himachal Pradesh and the country.

Nadda made specific allegations regarding the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, claiming it has been inefficient, misused central funds, and failed to adequately utilize the assistance provided by the Centre for the state's development. He challenged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh to clarify exactly what the Centre has not done for Himachal Pradesh and in which heads funds were not provided, stating that the people are being deliberately misled. He presented concrete facts and figures to illustrate his point, mentioning that funds were approved under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission in 2022 for 14 critical care blocks, 12 integrated public health units, and 73 block primary health units, yet none have been built to date.

Furthermore, Nadda highlighted the significant financial assistance provided by the Central government to Himachal Pradesh. He recalled that in 2023, following natural calamities, the Union government provided over ₹3,789 crore in several tranches between July and December. This included ₹180.40 crore on July 10, 2023, another ₹180.40 crore on July 14, ₹400 crore on August 1, ₹179 crore on August 7, ₹200 crore on August 20, and ₹633 crore on December 12. Additionally, ₹600 crore was provided on June 18, 2025. He also mentioned over ₹2,381 crore in special assistance for capital investment in 2024–25 and approximately ₹2,150 crore for reconstruction under externally aided projects.

Nadda also recounted how, after a meeting with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh in May (likely 2025), Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman swiftly approved approximately ₹1,442 crore under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) funding for Himachal Pradesh within just one month, with the central government bearing over 90 percent of the responsibility. He emphasized that while the state government prepares schemes, the resources and approvals often come from the Central government, refuting claims that no work has been done.

Other development projects highlighted included the ongoing work on the four-lane road from Shimla to Dharamshala, the establishment of a Medical Device Park in Nalagarh, and a drug testing facility. Nadda reiterated that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, development in every sector has been continuously linked with Himachal Pradesh, assuring that there has never been a shortage of funds and the Centre will continue to provide support whenever requested.

During his addresses, Nadda also stressed the importance of a 'double-engine government' for the rapid and stable development of Himachal Pradesh, urging voters to elect BJP candidates with a significant majority. He criticized the current state government for mismanagement, a 'closed treasury', and a lack of coordination, stating that such a government that cannot utilize funds effectively has no right to remain in power. He asserted that the BJP's politics are accountable and answerable to the people, in contrast to the 'old politics' based on casteism, appeasement, and favoritism.

The BJP National President's rallies served as a platform to showcase the Modi government's achievements and to draw a clear distinction between the BJP's development-oriented governance and the alleged inefficiencies of the opposition. He called upon the people of Himachal Pradesh to make an informed choice for continued progress and prosperity.
